Last Wednesday, my mom and I got on an airplane and flew out to California. It was something I was really looking forward to. Not only was it getting me out of a Calculus test and a ton of lit and econ homework, but it was also giving me a chance to look at schools on the west coast.
The evening that we landed, we drove to USC, which is on the south side of LA. I have a friend that goes to USC and is loving the challenge and the resources the school gives her. The campus is beautiful and the weather was so nice, everyone was sitting on blankets in the lawn or biking on the plaza. It was really exciting to meet Bob Mintzer and watch him rehearse the top big band in the Thorton School of Music. The school itself is nationally acclaimed for its academic…
